25 Great Friend Songs: Celebrate Friendship with These Special Songs

Love gets all the, well, love when it comes to songs, but friendship can be just important. For anyone who's ever had a friend lift them up when they were down or turn a bad day completely around, the friend songs on this list are perfect for dedicating to your BFF. So celebrate your friendship with these great friend songs, and hope that your friendship really does last forever:

'With a Little Help From my Friends' by The Beatles - This has to be one of the most fun songs about friends ever written, an upbeat ditty about how the love of good friends helps us get by. It's one of the cheeriest, most uplifting songs about friendship on this list, and one that's best listened to in the company of your best friend.

'With a Little Help From my Friends' by Joe Cocker - But out of the two friend songs here that share this title, I prefer Joe Cocker's emotional version a little bit more. It's one of the deepest songs about friendship you'll ever hear, and I highly recommend you check out Joe Cocker's extremely emotional performance of this most tear-inducing of songs about friends below at Woodstock to really get its full effect.

'I Will Remember You' by Sarah McLachlan - For friends that are parting ways, this is one of the songs you've got to tearfully play while you spend a few last moments together. So if you're looking for sad (but meaningful) songs for saying goodbye, this is one that does adieu best.

'Lean on Me' by Bill Withers - And back to more upbeat songs about friendship. If you wear your friends out by incessantly talking to them or dragging them around everywhere with you, give back to them by letting them know you'll always be there for them to lean on when they need a break from your hectic lives with one of the best songs ever written for best friends.

'You've Got a Friend in Me' by Randy Newman (from 'Toy Story') - This is one of the best songs you'll ever hear in an animated movie (in fact, it was nominated for an Academy Award). But it's also one of the sweetest songs for friends, whether you're two gal pals or an astronaut and a cowboy.

'I'll be There for You' by The Rembrandts ('Friends' theme song) - All I can say about one of the most recognizable songs of the 90's being on this list of the best songs about best friends is "Duh!". It's a song about always being there for friends that's the theme song for a show called 'Friends'. How can the other songs here compete with that?

'Umbrella' by Rihanna - And here's one of the best songs about friendship for friends living in Seattle. Poor Rihanna needed her fair share of umbrellas not too long ago, and I can only hope your friends don't need to tote around the steel-reinforced type her friends have to keep at hand. Still, you can keep your friends and their outfits safe with one of the best modern friend songs on this list.

'Thank You for Being a Friend' by Andrew Gold - This is another of the songs here that's the theme song for a sitcom about friends, and we can all only hope we have the bond that 'The Golden Girls' do in our golden years. The original, full-length version is one of the most heartfelt songs about friendship, and any tune that makes you think of Betty White is bound to make you smile.

'You've Got a Friend' by James Taylor - Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call...the local radio station and dedicate this sweetest of songs about friendship to your BFF to cheer them up. I love the songs that just say "You've got a friend" to those that need to know you're there for them, and none do it better than this one.

'Low Places' by Garth Brooks - This is definitely one of the best country songs about friendship ever written. It's about the friends you can truly count on: the ones that haunt your favorite drinking holes keeping the jukebox playing your favorite songs and buying you a round when your feeling down. So don't be afraid to hang out with friends at "low places"; they might be some of the most real friends you'll ever find.

'Welcome Back' by John Sebastian - This is one of the best songs for old friends getting together again after many years apart, reliving their glory days and saying "Welcome back" to those that roamed far from their original home. Who knew sitcom theme songs were so warm and friendly?

'The Boys Are Back in Town' by Thin Lizzy - And here's another of the friend songs here great for a few best buds from back in the day to listen to over a beer. It's another song about old friends reuniting, and every guy knows that life gets a little more exciting when the boys get back together for one wild night of listening to their favorite songs, drinking heavily, and acting like teenagers again.

'That's What Friends Are For' by Dionne Warwick - And to change my tune a little from the last two friend songs, here's one that's quite a bit deeper, talking about love and heartfelt words, so it's one of the songs about friendship here best reserved for the truly special friends in your life.

'Wind Beneath my Wings' by Bette Midler - This is probably one of the most overplayed songs about friends out there (and some might say one of the cheesiest), but you can't deny that telling a friend that they're your hero is one great compliment. So when thinking of songs to dedicate to truly special friends, don't forget the incomparable Bette.

'My Best Friend' by Weezer - Again, this one of the friend songs here that mentions "love", so you've got to make sure your friends aren't afraid of the "L" word. But it's also one of the only rock songs about friendship on this list, so it's perfect for a little friendly head banging to.

'True Friend' by Hannah Montana (a.k.a. Miley Cyrus) - And for younger readers who have no idea what half of these songs should really give them a chance! But if you don't care to, this is one of the best modern teen pop songs about friendship (and older readers who still refer to their bestie as their BFF might enjoy this sugary sweet guilty pleasure, too).

'The Gift of a Friend' by Demi Lovato - And here's another of the more modern songs about friends on this list, a super sweet tune sung by pixie-ish Demi Lovato for the 'Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure' soundtrack. So which of the teen queens' friend songs is better? Ill let the BFFs out there decide.

'We're All in this Together' by the High School Musical cast - And here's one of the best songs for a big group of friends getting together to celebrate. It's one of the most cheerful songs on this list, and one that celebrates the strengths of each individual friend that makes a group strong...together.

'We're Going to be Friends' by The White Stripes - This is one of the most surprising songs about friends on this list, a cutesy tune about best friends from grade school days. If you're looking for songs to play for friends that have been in your life for a long time, this is one of the most unique for reminiscing about those carefree days so long ago to.

'Friends' by Elton John - This is one of my favorite songs about friendship, a very poetic tune about watching time pass by and making true friends along the way. And despite the tragedy of aging and childhood slipping away, it's nice to know that everything will be alright as long as we've got good friends by our side.

'You're My Best Friend' by Queen - And here's one of the sweetest songs about friends on this list, made extra-special with Freddie Mercury's soothing voice. There's no better compliment than telling a friend that they make you live, so let them know just how special they are to you by dedicating one of the best songs ever written about friendship to them.

'Graduation (Friends Forever)' by Vitamin C - This is one of the songs about friendship I'm a bit tired of, because back in my high school days, it got a lot of radio play around graduation time. But friends and cheesy songs are just the dose of Vitamin C we all need around graduation time, as we jump into a scary new world and leave our old friends behind.

'Anytime you Need a Friend' by Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey is known for her extremely emotional songs, and this heartfelt ode to friendship is definitely full of feeling (and her distinctive falsetto). It's another of the songs here that lets friends know you'll always be there for them; it just takes a little longer for Mariah to get all the lyrics and her message out.

'Stand By Me' by Ben E. King - This is another of my favorite songs about friends, because it just makes you feel like a friend is giving you a hug as soon as you hear it. It lets friends know just how important they are to you and is one of the most unique songs on this list because it's sending a bit of a different message: asking friends to stand by you because they make you feel safe, instead of telling them that you'll be there for them. Is it a little selfish? Maybe. But who cares? Ben E. King still manages to make it sound super sweet and special.

'I'll Stand by You' by The Pretenders - And now back to friendship songs about standing by friends. Nobody can sing as sweetly about friendship as Chrissie Hynde, whose soothing voice makes everyone wish they had a friend that could sing songs to them in such an angelic way when they're feeling down.

So whether your looking to cheer friends up, reunite with an old friend, or celebrate your friendship, there's sure to be some great friends on this list for making you and your BFF feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Happy Holidays And Merry Rick-mas From 'The Walking Dead'

"The Walking Dead" definitely isn't the holliest, jolliest show, but it has its heartwarming moments. In the spirit of the holiday season, let's take a look at some of season 5's merriest moments.

It's the most wonderful time of the year

The season 5 premiere of "The Walking Dead" gave fans a reason to celebrate when it returned with an explosive season 5 premiere. Carol saved her friends from becoming a feast for Gareth the Grinch, and she came bearing gifts: Daryl Dixon's bow and Rick's watch. Viewers got to see Daryl cry and give his savior a huge hug, but was he more excited about seeing Carol or getting his bow back? There were two more sweet reunions when Sasha learned that Tyreese was alive, and Rick and Carl lit up like two kids on Christmas when they saw baby Judith.

Holly Jolly Bob

Before Bob's foot got roasted on open fire and Termites nibbled on his toes, he played an adorable game with Sasha called "Good Outta the Bad." Sasha would named the countless downsides of the zombie apocalypse, and Bob would try to find the bright side of mosquito bites (itching reminds you that you're alive) and having no privacy ("captive audience"). He provided some much-needed joy and cheer, and he gave Sasha some good memories to hold on to. Watch Father Gabriel find Bob's chargrilled appendage below.

Beth's sweet gift

Noah proved that he was a good guy by presenting Beth with a festive green lollipop. That piece of candy would go on to star in a very disturbing scene, but at least it proved that the zombie apocalypse hasn't killed off all the giving people left in the world.

Eugene: The Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer of the zombie apocalypse

Abraham's group found a great new toy when they stumbled up a shiny red firetruck, and unlikely hero Eugene finally stepped up and proved the brain underneath that mullet is a valuable asset by climbing on top of the vehicle and using its hose to take out a pretty large horde of zombies.

Slay ride

Carol survived Daryl Dixon's dangerous overpass joyride only to get hit by one of the hospital cars. However, there was an upside to Carol almost getting killed -- she was reunited with Beth after the poor girl had probably given up hope of ever seeing her old friends again. Just don't accept any lollipops, Carol!
